CEROC IN WORCESTERSHIRE

 

  Our third Coppertops Mini Weekender  was again a huge success.  A big thankyou to all the Ceroc Groove team that helped out on the event. To the teachers Catriona, Alex Faulkner, and Richard (Debbie too) for their fabulous classes/routine (Alex and Kelly did a superb job with the cabaret performance routine it was amazing fun and such a thrill to perform during the freestyle.

**WCS Starter Course Huge Success**  - Watch this space for a further update

Following on from the overwhelming response we have received from the phenomenal success of our Monday West Coast Swing classes we are proud to announce a new 6 week series of classes at the Pear Tree Inn, Worcester.

 

NEXT COURSE TBC ........We are scheduled to commence on 10th May in the Gallery room at the Pear Tree. So for the next two weeks the dance floor is yours to enjoy with our DJ Kieran Moore continuing to play a blend of smooth and funky tracks to freestyle to in our West Coast Swing room.

 

Once our class restarts we will be bringing you a new format with 2 great classes starting at 8pm taking you through the foundations of the dance. Following on from that will be an improvers class at 9pm. Each week we will focus on a different element that will take your dancing to the next level.

 

The classes are aimed at all levels of dancer whether you are new to West Coast Swing or have been dancing for a while. You have the option to join us throughout any point of the 6 week program or take advantage of our discount. Pre book for the whole 6 weeks and only pay the price of less than 5.

 West Coast Swing is rapidly growing around Europe and the rest of the world. Known for its fluid and stylish appearance it is a fun dance that appeals to both novice and experienced dancers. Whether you are new to dancing or wish to learn new techniques to challenge your overall dance, West Coast Swing can open a new world of partner dancing to you. Originating in America it is recognized by its slotted appearance and can be danced to both slow and fast music whether it is Blues, Soul or Pop. It also appeals to dancers wishing to incorporate a level of structured footwork to their dance. It also  helps to highlight the elements of lead and follow as well as ways to express yourself on the dance floor.

 

 

 

Our tuition aims to take you through the fundamentals of the dance and beyond and have you dancing West Coast Swing with confidence in no time.

Providing the teaching for our classes will be Edwin Smith who has been dancing West Coast Swing for around 6 years now both in theUK and in America. Edwin’s passion for the dance has made him a regular teacher in London around the country gaining his expertise from the very best both here and abroad.

He has also successfully tested his skills on the competition floor at some of the biggest Swing events in America both placing and winning in different divisions.

What is West Coast Swing.

West Coast Swing (WCS) is a partner dance derived from Lindy Hop.

It  is a slotted dance: The slot is an imaginary area, long and thin, eight or nine feet long if danced at a very slow Tempo, but shorter if the music is at a faster tempo. The follower travels back and forth in the slot dancing straight through the man. The leader consistently moves a minimum amount (at mid-way point) to her sides, barely out of her way.
